I have a lot of random ideas and a lot of random thoughts, and this little experiment is one of them.
I like to write — the quality or quantity of my writing is not of concern to me. It's more about clearing my head and trying to make sense of whatever is going through it at any given moment.
Aside from just good old writing — typing out any words as they come to me — I love screenwriting. I have a million ideas for feature comedies, as well as TV shows, and what often starts as an idea for what I think will be a huge hit ends up as a bunch of disorganized notes all over my iPhone, laptop, and all sorts of notebooks (and I have MANY).
It's hard for me to hold myself accountable to truly finish a project, and I hate forcing myself to write something. But forcing myself is one thing, and feeling stuck is different. And I realized that a lot of the time, I simply feel overwhelmed.
So, I decided to start this little experiment. Every week, I ask someone to give me three random words and I turn them into a short script. I open my laptop and see what happens. I don't sent a timer and have a time limit -I start writing and don't stop hitting the keyboard keys until all three words have been used and at least one page is filled. I don't give myself time to prep or outline or do any of that.
The goal originally was to prevent writer’s block and take a break from whatever bigger project I'm working on at the moment. To prove to myself that even if I feel stuck on something, I can still simply write. Which then ultimately leads to me working on the bigger project once I unlock my creative flow.
Also, it's a great excuse to text people I haven’t talked to in a while.
Writing Wednesdays

Some scripts end up funny. Some make absolutely no sense. Some accidentally turn into ideas I genuinely want to expand into something bigger (that almost never happens).
Point is, it's a cool exercise to clear my head and get creativity flowing.
Here are some of my latest ones.
