Wine Bottle Designs
This is something I started doing many years ago, during COVID, when my roommate paid for a Photoshop course for me so I could help her design fake movie posters for a web series we were working on after graduating from film school.
It was COVID. We were bored. We were day drinking wine while co-working. As everyone did, I assume.
One day, I was designing a poster with my friend's face on it when she came over to refill my glass with wine. Her birthday was coming up, and I had been beating myself up trying to figure out what to get her. And then I looked at her. Looked at the wine. Looked back at Photoshop. What if I just put her face on this bottle and wrote something stupid on it?
That was the start of an era.
Somehow, this was already about six years ago, and the first few bottles were horrendous. Glue everywhere. Ink-smudged printouts. Labels that were definitely not attached at a professional level. But with time, I got much better at them, and now, without fail, pretty much every single friend of mine receives a bottle of wine with a graphic of themselves on it for their birthday. Or any other occasion when I have some spare time and a wine bottle to remake.
At this point, it's not exactly a surprise to anyone who knows me. The bottle is expected. They just don't know what the theme will be or what picture I'll use. What's on the bottle is usually the surprise. Except for my friend Ella this year. She made a very specific request, and I accommodated.

Daisy's 28th
Daisy like the sea, fish, and wine. And many other things, obviously, like any other complex woman. But I feel like this design captured her spot-on at that time.
Thanksgiving at Jack's
It was very sweet of Jack's family to invite me to their home for Thanksgiving. As an immigrant, I have to say I have no clue why that holiday is a thing but I truly had lots of fun. I obviously had to thank his lovely parents by putting their son's face on a wine bottle - wearing a T-shirt of himself as a turkey - because why not?
Christmas - Sophia
This design I made for all the women co-workers at my previous job. I think the "Blood Of Christ" and "Oh no! It's a girl" truly go together for a great joke.
Lauren's Birthday
Lauren's obsessed with The Real Housewives. Of like, all the cities, I think. I am not sure to be honest because when she talks about that show she loses me pretty quickly - I can't say I have ever seen a full episode of that whole thing. However, for her birthday I thought I'd put her face on all those rich women. And change housewives to housebirds because she really is just like a bird.
Daisy's Move
Daisy — yes, the complex sea woman from the first design on this page — was my roommate for about a year until she decided to move on. Not because I was a terrible roommate — we're still friends — but because she got a great opportunity and she's a talented, amazing artist. This was the design I made for her on her moving-out day.
Eli's Birthday
Eli is a fan of Dance Moms. I think he has seen all of it for some reason, maybe even more than once. Now, that's commitment. Anyways, obviously him as a beautiful dancer mid-split in the air is what made sense for his birthday. I mean, look at him. That's one impressive jump he's doing. We should all be more like Eli. Go sports and all.
